Our History

Brief History of Our College

Holy Trinity College of Education was established in the year 2007 as a Secondary Teacher Education Institution (B. Ed.) at Melpalai in Kanyakumari District. It is owned and run by the KSM Educational and Charitable Trust.

The objectives of the Trust are:

To maintain libraries, book banks, to donate to the existing libraries either in the form of cash or in the form of books and to help the economically backward students to buy books at concessional or reduced rate or free of charge as the case may be.

To organize and conduct lectures, seminars, symposia, workshops for students.

To conduct classes for the poor, to give relief to the people affected by natural calamities like earthquake, flood, famine, tsunami, pestilence and other cases and to help orphanages, rescue homes and similar institutions in the society.

To organize public meetings and to arrange for speakers, singers and artists to develop art and literature.

To build, erect, construct, aid and assist in the building and construction of houses, dormitories, places of residence for the poor, destitute and physically challenged.

To create awareness among the people about the importance of protecting the environment.

Arranging to learn and recognize the international arts, sports, games, Yoga, meditation and other forms of exercises.

With the able guidance of the Advisory Board, the college is being run in an efficient manner. The Advisory Board comprises Dr. R. Mukundan, Former Principal of N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor; Rev. Fr. Maria Soosai, Director, Youth Commission; Mr. K. Saamley Proprietor Lofty Optical Industries and Helios Eye Hospital, Marthandam; Mr. T. Bhagyaraj, Teacher, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Melpalai; Mr. C. Dellus, Physical Director, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Kaliyal and Mr. G. Gnana Soundra Dhas, Teacher.

Holy Trinity College of Education got its recognition from NCTE, Southern Regional Committee, Bangalore in the month of June 2007 and it was affiliated to the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli in the month of November 2007. Presently it is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai

The college prepares the students for the B.Ed. course with dedication and commitment.

The college has a well established technology laboratory. In order to help the students to access the latest information, internet facilities are made available. The mission of the college is to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the high-tech/techno savy students of the 21st century. It is also hoped that this institution will succeed in its efforts to produce exemplary teachers with dedication, devotion and discipline.

The college is located in a calm and serene atmosphere by the side of Marthandam –Panachamoodu Main Road in Melpalai. It is just 10 Kms from Marthandam and well connected by roads. The college atmosphere is highly conducive for teacher education.
